This access statement does

not contain personal opinions as to the suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that I offer to all guests and visitors.



Introduction


Honeysuckle Cottage is ideal for those who want a truly memorable self-catering holiday, with idyllic countryside views and walks.  The village centre is only a 5 minute walk away where their is a Cafe, general convenience store and Post Office. Honeysuckle Cottage is located at the bottom of a designated quiet country lane, on a slight incline.


Honeysuckle cottage sleeps up to 3 people and has 2 bedrooms, a double and single, both situated on the first floor.


Honeysuckle cottage was built around 1850 as a silk weavers dwelling.  It has been refurbished to a very high standard retaining a wealth of character and using high quality materials.

Buses


The bus operator is Johnsons (Henley) Ltd.  Their timetable and information can be found on their website www.johnsonscoaches.co.uk.  Their telephone number is 01564 797000.   Buses from Moreton-in-Marsh take approximately 15 minutes. The No.’s 21/22 bus runs to and from the bus station in Moreton-in-Marsh to Stratford-upon-Avon (via Chipping Campden and Broadway), Monday to Saturday.  It does not operate on Sundays and bank holidays. Bus times can vary so always check before your journey.


The nearest bus stop from Honeysuckle Cottage is a 3 minute walk up an incline.  Turn right at the bottom of Pasture Lane onto Lower Street (B4479), walk across the road, (taking care of oncoming traffic, as there is no footpath on the sharp bend), and walk up the hill to the bus stop, which is on your left beyond Lower Brook House beside the village green and playground.  When returning from your journey, ask the driver for the stop on Lower Street in Blockley. 


All buses can accommodate one wheelchair and the bus has the ability to lower itself.

Pasture Lane


The road immediately outside Honeysuckle cottage is classed as a designated quiet Lane.  Honeysuckle cottage is terraced and is the third cottage up the lane from Lower Street.  Opposite the cottage there is a public foot path (with a 5cm high curb) that ends at 8.5 metres up the lane from the cottage.  Running along side the path is a hedge that encloses beautiful gardens to a neighbouring property.  The road and pavement were resurfaced 4 years ago and are presently even. 


There are six cottages on Pasture lane.  Four terraced cottages (Honeysuckle included) and a detached cottage on the right hand side as you look up the lane and one cottage on the left hand side.  Pasture Lane continues up a hill and ends at a farm.


Farm traffic, occasionally horses and residents cars are the predominant traffic on Pasture Lane.


Car Parking


Honeysuckle Cottage has its own designated parking space.  This is on the same side of the road as Honeysuckle cottage beyond the last cottage.  There are two parking spaces and Honeysuckle cottage’s space is to the left.  It has a gravelled surface and is 2.9 metres wide and 5.2 metres deep.  It is enclosed by a stonewall and is 14 metres from the cottage

Parking is also available on Pasture Lane opposite the cottage.

There is a streetlight on the corner of Pasture Lane and Lower Street by a babbling brook.  There is no lighting over Honeysuckle cottages car park and it is advisable to bring a torch with you.

The Cottage


Entrance


Front door


The dimensions of the front door are width 86.5cm/34inches and height 193cm/76inches.  There are two stone steps up to the front door.  The first step is 5cm high and the second step is 9cm high.  There is a 5cm wooden doorframe to negotiate and there is no handrail.   There is a coir mat on the second step for muddy shoes.


Immediately to your left hand side, on a wall around a corner, you will find a single switch and a three-gang light switch underneath. 


The single switch is for an internal light above the front door.


The 3-gang switch is for the following:


1.The first switch nearest to the front door is for the outside light.

2.The second switch is for the internal wall lights and picture light in the sitting room.

3.The third switch is for the ceiling light on the landing upstairs.


The floor covering inside the entrance is short pile woollen carpet with a mat at the bottom of the stairs.  This continues through into the lounge, stairs, upstairs landing and both bedrooms.


Back door


An oak stable door opens inwards into the kitchen and leads to the rear courtyard.  It is 86cm/34inches wide and 178cm/70inches tall. 


There is a 4cm/1.5inches step down into the kitchen from the courtyard. 


There is a light switch to the left of the back door for an external light, which is positioned outside above the back door.


Stairs and Landing


The staircase is accessed from the living room, which is accessed to the left of the front door (the entrance to the staircase is 79cm/31inches wide and 213cm/84inches high).  There are 6 treads rising straight up then turns to the right for 6 more treads.  There is a bannister on the left hand side wall ending at the top of the stairs.  


The first floor landing is an L shape being 89cm/35inches wide and 261cm/103inches long.  From the top of the stairs, 84cm/32inches to your right is a latch door (hinge to the right of the door) opening to the bathroom, 69cm/27inches wide and 193cm76inches high.  Immediately next to this is the main bedroom door (hinge on the left hand side - 69cm/27inches wide and 193cm/76inches high) and then straight ahead from the bannister is the single bedroom door (hinge to the right - 76cm/30inches wide and 193cm/76inches high).  There is a window (92cm/36inches square) that has an outlook onto the front of the property.


The stairs and landing are well lit using a combination of ceiling light and a lamp.


The floor covering is short pile woollen carpet.


Lounge


The lounge is situated on the ground floor and is accessed from the front door 86.5cm/34inches wide and 193cm/76inches high.


There is a two/three seater sofa on castors and a wingback armchair with cushions together with a low footstool.


Furniture can be moved.  There is a 22inch widescreen digital television with remote control, subtitles, and a DVD player that also plays VHS videos.


Lighting is by natural daylight from two windows, one to the front of the living room and one to the rear of the room, 4 wall lights, 2 lamps and a standard lamp.


Flooring is short pile fitted carpet. 


To the left of the front door is the entrance to the staircase and to the right of this opening is the doorway to the kitchen (both openings are enclosed by thick interlined curtains).  To the right of the kitchen doorway positioned on the dividing kitchen/lounge wall is a radiator. 


A wood-burning stove is in the middle of the room opposite the kitchen doorway.  There is a stone hearth that steps up by 10cm/4inches.


To the right of the front door on entering the cottage, there is a window seat below the window to the front of Honeysuckle cottage with a cupboard underneath. 


Above the front door, housed in a wooden box is the electric meter. 


There is a velvet-lined curtain that can be drawn across the front door.  Both windows to the front and rear of the lounge are dressed with curtains. 


The front lounge window (102cm/40inches square) cannot be opened.  The rear window (54cm/21inches wide and 71cm/28inches high) can be opened but is securely locked.


Dining area


The dining area is situated at the far end of the lounge at the opposite end to the front door.


The oak dining table has has two dropped leafs which are opened out and stabilised by a wooden leg.  The four legs to each corner are 73cm/29inches from the floor to lowest point of table (under space).  It seats four people comfortably.  There are three chairs (all moveable) with padded seats and have no arms.  Lighting is provided by natural day light from the back window, three table lamps.


Flooring is short pile fitted carpet.


Kitchen


A two-gang light switch is positioned on the right hand side wall as you enter the kitchen from the lounge.  The kitchen is accessed from either the lounge or from the courtyard through the back door and is situated on the ground floor.


The door opening to the kitchen from the lounge is 101.5cm/40 inches wide and 208cm/82 inches high.


Fridge/freezer


Immediately in front of you from the lounge is a fridge freezer (hinges are on the right as you face the fridge).  Outer dimensions of fridge: width is 54cm/21 inches, height 121cm/48inches and depth 61cm/24 inches.  Internal height of glass shelves 70cm/27.5 inches, 53cm/21 inches, 39cm/15.5 inches and 27cm/10.5 inches.  Internal freezer measurements: width 39cm/15.5 inches, height 26cm/10 inches and depth 43cm/17 inches.  There is a single socket to the right of the fridge/freezer above the skirting board.


To the right of the kitchen entrance doorway from the lounge is a wooden butchers block.  This is 70cm/27.5 inches wide, 82cm/32 inches high and 61cm/24 inches deep.  Tea making facilities including a cordless electric kettle and teapot are located here.  A microwave oven is positioned on a shelf below (door hinge on the left).  There is a double socket above the butchers block.  To the left of the butchers block (along the partition wall, between the kitchen and lounge) is a pine Welsh dresser.  This is 110cm/43 inches wide, height 195cm/77 inches and depth 36cm/14 inches.  Crockery, china, bread bin and glassware are located on the shelves along with tea towels and dish clothes in the drawers and kitchen utensils.


Oven


Opposite the kitchen entrance from the lounge is the oven.  It is an Aga Electric City 60.  It has a round hotplate and two ovens.  Two knobs positioned to the left of the cooker control the aga.  The Hotplate control button is to the right and the oven control knob is to the left.  There is a double socket on the wall above the work top to the right of the oven.


A toaster is positioned to the left of the oven on an oak worktop.  There are two shelves below.  A double socket is positioned above this worktop.


Pantry


A walk in pantry to the left of the oven and right of the fridge/freezer is accessed via a latched door (hinge to the right) 68cm/26.5 inches wide and 164cm/64.5 inches high.  There are 4 shelves at 22cm/8.5 inches, 52cm/20.5 inches, 74cm/29 inches and 101cm/39.5 inches high.  Fuse box is positioned on the right above the shelves. There is a light switch on the right hand wall to the right of the fuse board which lights the pantry.   The iron can be found in here.


To the right of the oven are oak worktops, which run for 112cm/44 inches and 60cm/23.5 inches deep.  The opening of the Belfast sink is 55cm/21.5 inches by 39cm/15.5 inches and 43cm/17 inches deep.  The bottom of sink is 93cm/36.5ins above the floor and top of the sink rim is 87cm/34 inches from the floor.  Cross head bib taps provide hot and cold water (hot to the left, cold to the right).  Cleaning products can be found under the sink in two base cupboards.  Above the sink is a plate rack with dinner plates, desert/breakfast bowls and side plates (two racks at 55cm/21.5 inches and 90cm/35.5 inches from worktop).


A Worcester gas combination boiler that provides hot water and heating to the cottage is positioned to the right of the plate rack.


The kitchen is evenly lit with two strips of halogen spotlights (4 halogen lights per strip) and is directed over the work surfaces.  There is a wall light above the butcher’s block.  Spare bulbs are found in the kitchen drawer under the worktop to the left of the back door.


To the right of the oven is a dishwasher 44cm/17.5 inches wide and 85cm/33.5 inches tall.  The door pulls down and the hinges are at the base of the appliance. 


There is a base cupboard (with shelf and hinge on the left) with cutlery drawer above to the right of the dishwasher.


A radiator is positioned to the right of the oak stable door on the wall. 

Flooring is linoleum.


Bedrooms


Double bedroom


There are two bedrooms on the first floor each accessed from the landing via latch and brace doors, with step free level access from the hallway. The door opens from the landing with the hinge on the right of the door.  There is a Victorian double metal bedstead 4’6” x 6’3” (135cm x 190cm) with a medium tension pocket sprung mattress.  There are two oak bedside cabinets to each side of the head of the bed, each with three sliding drawers measuring 52cm/20.5 inches wide, 43cm/17 inches deep and 74cm/29 inches high.  Above each cabinet are alcoves with shelving for books and ornaments. To the left of the bedroom as you enter the room is a floor to ceiling wardrobe to hang clothes measuring 61cm/24 inches wide, 51cm/20 inches deep and 201cm/70 inches high.  There are wooden hangers for jackets, blouses, trousers and ties.  To the right of this is a vanity area with a mirror, light over head with string pull, and a drawer which houses an hairdryer.  Underneath the drawer is a kneehole area 62cm/24.5 inches wide, 63cm/25 inches high and 51cm/20 inches deep.  There is a wooden stool to sit on and a wired bin.  The window is 59cm/23 inches wide, 73cm/28.5 inches high and 32cm/12.5 inches deep.  Directly under the window is a radiator.


Single bedroom


The single bedroom is to the right of the double bedroom.The latch and brace door opens with hinges on the right from the hallway.  Immediately to the left is a six drawer cabinet 45cm/17.5 inches wide, 33cm/13 inches deep and 120cm/47 inches high.  The single bed is on a divan base and is 3’0” x 6’3” (90cm/35.5 inches x 190cm/75 inches).  There is a fitted shelf at the head of the bed extending to the right of the bed 69cm/27 inches high.  There is a lamp positioned here.  Floor to ceiling single wardrobe to the right of the bed.  The door of the wardrobe opens with hinges on the right.  It measures 55cm/21.5 inches wide, 47cm/18.5 inches deep and 208cm/82 inches high.  There is a seat to the right of the wardrobe under the window.  It is 95cm/37.5 inches wide, 26cm/10 inches deep and 63cm/25 inches high.  The window is 95cm/37.5 inches wide and 92cm/36 inches high.  To the right of the window is a radiator.


Hall


A bannister rises up from the ground floor on the left hand wall measuring 93cm/36.5 inches from the stair treads.  Below the hall window is a seat measuring 102cm/40 inches wide, 30cm/12 inches deep and 53cm/21 inches high.  The window above measures 92cm/36 inches wide and 92cm/36 inches high.

There is a brass and glass light pendant hanging from the centre of the hall ceiling. 


Bathroom


Entry to the bathroom is from the first floor hallway via a latch and brace door.  Hinges are on the right.  Immediately to the left of the doorway is a pull switch for the lights.  A stand alone shower cubicle with one glass side panel and a glass door hinges on the right 80cm/31.5 inches wide, 80cm/31.5 inches deep and 176cm/69 inches high from the shower base.  There is a 26cm/10.5 inches step up from the linoleum floor.  A toilet with low cistern is to the right of the shower 77cm/30.5 inches in distance positioned along the back wall.  The toilet seat is 43cm/17 inches high.  The bath is to the right of the toilet along the far width of the room.  The bath is 70cm/28 inches wide, 59cm/23 inches high from floor to top edge of bath and 158cm/62 inches length.  There is a window above the bath on the back wall 43cm/17 inches side, 36cm/14 inches deep and 69cm/27 inches high.  To the right of the bath is a vanity unit with under counter oval sink basin 42cm/16.5 inches wide 34cm/13.5 inches deep.  The vanity unit has a marble top which is 69cm/27 inches wide and 54cm/21.5 inches deep.  The wooden unit is 80cm32 inches high and has two doors enclosing a cupboard underneath.  An ornate Italian mirror adorns the wall above the sink 64cm/25 inches wide and 98cm/38.5 inches high.  It is positioned 23cm/9 inches above the marble top on the wall.  To the right of the sink is a Victorian style radiator with incorporated heated towel rail 47cm/18.5 inches wide, 17cm/6.6 inches deep and 95cm/37.5 inches high.



Laundry/Utility Room/Outhouse


A washer/dryer is housed in the outhouse across the courtyard from the kitchen door.  The Outhouse is accessed via a latch and brace door opening into the outhouse with the hinges on the left; 79cm/31 inches wide and 168cm/66 inches high.  The washer/dryer is directly ahead with the opening facing the entrance to the outhouse door.  It is 60cm/24 inches wide by 60cm/24 inches deep and 86cm34 inches high.  The washer door (33cm/13 inches x 33cm/13 inches round opening) opens with the hinge on the left.  It is 33cm/13 inches high from the floor to the bottom of the door.  To the right of the washer/dryer is a free standing shelving unit. The ironing board is kept in the outhouse.  The iron is kept in the pantry in the kitchen.


Access to rear courtyard


Access is from the kitchen through an oak stable door or from a gate to the left of the Outhouse door.  There is picket fencing demarcating both boundaries either side of the courtyard 97cm/38 inches high.  The courtyard is 265cm/104.5 inches wide and 480cm/189 inches long.

Pets are welcome for an additional charge.  There is no charge for Assistance dogs.
